Next week is the last week of the quarter, please check Alma to see how your students are performing in their classes. We will not be sending out report cards as everything is accessible online. Next Friday, October 16th, is a half day.
This is my 21st year in the school and I believe my 11th as the principal (but I lose track of time!). This year my focus has been on listening, learning, and building a strong foundation for continued success. Through conversations with students, staff, and families, we have identified key priorities that will guide the work this year: strengthening communication, supporting high-quality instruction, fostering student engagement, and ensuring every student feels connected, challenged, and supported. Everything we are doing is connected to our school goals of:
1 - Every student has a connection with an adult in the building.
2 - Every student takes ownership of their learning and achieves at a high level.
3 - Students articulate the essential skill(s) and identify their proficiency in each class.
Our students continue to excel both inside and outside the classroom. Fall PE was a success in getting students to connect with teachers outside of the classroom; which leads to strong connections in the classroom.
On the Athletics front, the soccer team is currently ranked #1, our golf team finished 4th in the state, and both volleyball and cross country are having outstanding seasons. Middle School boys basketball is now underway, adding to the excitement of a strong fall athletic season.
Beyond athletics, students remain highly engaged in extracurricular activities and service opportunities. The Thespian Society recently inducted five new members, and auditions for Young Frankenstein were held with performances scheduled for Halloween weekend. Students have also demonstrated a commitment to community service through activities such as the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and "Buzz for Dori," which raised $200 that Dori chose to donate to Little Pink Houses of Hope.
We are also grateful for the incredible support of our Booster Club, whose fundraising efforts and volunteer work continue to provide valuable opportunities for students and programs across our school.
Looking ahead, Homecoming Week is just around the corner, and we are excited to celebrate with our students and community. The Gold Rush theme will kick off during the week of October 19, bringing school spirit and traditions to life. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on October 21, providing an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect about student progress and goals for the remainder of the semester.
Thank you for all you do to support our schools, staff and teachers - we couldn't do this without you.
