Telluride Middle/High School

Welcome Back 2026 - 2027

berlin wall

TMHS Community:

Welcome Back! Happy August! I hope you have had a wonderful summer and are almost ready to send your kids back to school!

I spent the first two weeks of summer on the Holocaust Learning Experience trip. The picture above is from the Berlin wall, I loved the message it sent, and it will be the focus of our school year. I can't wait to share more about this experience the students and I had.

I want to thank all who have reached out and offered support with the recent flooding in the Palm and school. We are extremely grateful for the team who has been working around the clock on clean up. We anticipate starting school on time ,though we will not be able to have the TFF Student Screening, and we are working on a plan for the Fall Musical - stay tuned.

What do you need to do prior to school:

  1. Enjoy the last days of summer break! We have created this 50 things to do in Telluride; how many have you checked off?
  2. Make sure you can Log In to Alma (our new student information system)
  3. Purchase School Supplies.

More information will come over the next few weeks on:

  1. Student handbook & expectations
  2. Student schedules.

Athletics also has a new website:

Students can drop off supplies, set up locker, and pick up your school-issued Chromebook on August 17th from 2:45 - 3:45.

SCHOOL STARTS TUESDAY August 18 @ 8:10 am!

A reminder on what is new this year:

We have some changes that have been communicated over the year, but we would like to consolidate to one place:

  • ALMA has replaced PowerSchool. You should have received an activation email. log in and make sure all your information is correct.
  • Chromebooks are now assigned to all TMHS students, and we no longer have Bring Your Own Device. We have updated our Chromebook to a better product, supplied school email to all students. 11th/12th grade students will have access to personal email. If student brings there own device that is not a school-issued Chromebook, it will follow similar to the phone policy.
  • We have been under construction this summer for new windows, updated flooring and more. We were unable to create the planned built-ins in the HS hallway due to increased material costs.
  • Week 1 Bell Schedule, TMS & THS will follow the same bell schedule for every day except Tuesday, the schedule is HERE
  • Winter PE has moved to one day as opposed to two. The bell schedule is not finalized yet, but Winter PE will happen on Thursdays.
  • All athletic fees must be paid prior to attending practice, and we are using Arbiter as our new online sports sign up system. Student fees can be paid online through Alma.
  • Play in 48 has moved to the spring.
  • There are a couple handbook updates that will come in the Handbook 101 email in the coming weeks.

Staff Information

We only have one "new" teacher this year; Ms. Lauren O'Hare. Ms. O'Hare taught math at THS prior to taking two years off from teaching. She is returning to the math department at THS, and we are excited to have her back.

Orientation

August 17th:
9:30 - 10:30: 9th Grade & any NEW HS Students:
11:00 - 12:00: 7th grade & any NEW MS students.

These orientation are for students only, so parents please be prepared to drop off your kids. Participants will receive their schedules, meet important faculty members, get to know our Student Council, tour the building, pick up school-issued Chromebooks, and access their lockers. We encourage students to attend orientation, but understand if some student can't attend.

Student Schedules.

Student schedules will be available this week on Alma by Friday. Please make sure you login and activate your Alma account. If you haven't already done so, the tech department will be sending out information again this week to do so.

An email will come out this week with specific information regarding schedules and how to make change requests by filling out a form.

Student Handbook

I am aware that everyone signs off on our handbook, but not everyone knows the details of our handbook.

At the start of the year Mr. Murray, Ms. Jenni, Mr. Jones and I will be visiting classes to review The Miner Way of integrity, respect, responsibility. I will also be sending out a separate email prior to the start of school with basic expectations of The Miner Way.

MS Parents

Don't forget: TMS students had summer reading of The Amazing Generation. We have copies at the front desk if you need to borrow one! The expectation is that students read the book prior to the start of school.

Student Fees

We collect fees to cover some of the costs. The class fees roll over with the class each year and supplement the graduation budget senior year.

A link to all fees are HERE

If you have outstanding fees from last year, you can pay those online in Alma.

Important Info

Lockers: All students will be assigned a locker.
Parking Passes: Only a specific number of seniors can park on campus. An application will be emailed to seniors separately.
