TMHS Community:

What a week! The Homecoming spirit was high! Students participated in spirit week in record numbers and it has been great to see so many people attending events and supporting our students! We hope to see as many of you as possible at the soccer game at 11 am on Saturday. I want to thank our Student Council and Booster Club for going above and beyond to make this week spectacular.

I also want to thank everyone who attended the volleyball game and Homecoming Court last night for your patience and flexibility - we had quite a crew in the parking lot! We are extremely grateful for the Telluride Fire Department for their quick response to our chemical "issues" and they were able to safely allow us to continue with the events of the evening. We know the adjustment in schedule today provided some excitement and change; thank you for your support in those shifts.

Lastly, I want to reiterate, the fire lane in the school parking lot is exactly that; a fire lane for emergency vehicles. Please do not park in that lane; we need that clear at all times.

Should you have any questions or concerns about any of the events over the past week please do not hesitate to reach out.

-Sara Kimble, TMHS Principal

Pinhead film TONIGHT:
Sarah Holbrooke, Pinhead Institute's Executive Directory, will be hosting a math documentary called "Counted Out" at the Sheridan Opera House on Friday, October 4 at 4pm. "Counted Out" depicts how math and our daily lives are intertwined, but more importantly, it "investigates the biggest crises of our time--political polarization, racial and economic inequity, a global pandemic, and climate change--through an unexpected lens: math." Individual tickets are $35 through www.originalthinkers.com, but come as a Pinhead guest for free! Seating is first-come, first-serve. Please mention "Pinhead" at the door.

Athletics:
Athletic games, important dates and important information, including sport registration and livestreams of games can be found on tellurideathletics.com.

Middle School Boys Basketball Registration is open! Please click here for registration information.
Middle School Boys Basketball practice starts on MONDAY!.
High School Girls and Boys Basketball practice starts on November 18th.
Please note, the Winter Athletic Awards Night has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 18th.

**Please be aware of when your student’s sports physical expires. The Telluride Medical Center does not make appointments for a Sports Physical. They will only schedule appointments for an Annual Well-Child Check. This type of appointment takes longer to schedule and your student’s sports physical may expired before your medical appointment. To avoid the loss of participation in your student’s sport, please make your appointment at the Med Center well in advance to ensure your appointment does not exceed the expiration of the Sport Physical. If you need to schedule a Sports Physical and The Med Center cannot accommodate you, please check with surround clinics in Norwood, Ridgway, Montrose and Cortez. Students cannot participate with an expired Sports Physical.

Please follow TMHS Athletics on Instagram and Facebook.

Winter PE
You should have received a ParentSquare message from Jaime Stewart yesterday regarding Winter PE options, registration information and scholarship application information.  To highlight a few pieces of information from that email.
  1. Winter PE registration week is Nov. 4th – 9th. Please make sure your student is registered for a Winter PE program by Nov. 9th.
  2. Winter PE Scholarship Applications are due October 25th. We will not accept late applications.
  3. Please consider making a financial contribution to our Winter PE Scholarship Fund. We want to ensure every student has the opportunity to participate in the Winter PE program of their choice.
Please click on this link for more information about the 3 items listed above. If you would like assistance filling out the Winter PE Scholarship Application or help with Telski registration, please come to TMHS on October 21st from 9am – 3pm. A representative from Telski will be available, as will Jaime Stewart and Spanish translators.

Lastly, we’d like to thank a few people who have made Winter PE possible at the Telluride School District. Thank you to Scott Pearson, Mayor Pro Tem MV, for founding Ski for All to seek grant funding from local organizations to raise additional scholarship funds for our students.  We would also like to thank Telluride
Sports and Bootdoctors who donate ski rentals to scholarship families, The Alpineer who will donate 10% of their ski rental sales program back to our Winter PE program for families who sign up using this unique link https://www.christysports.com/tellurideschooldistrict.
