Welcome Back 2024 - 2025
inclusion and belonging logo
TMHS Community:
Welcome Back! We are excited to welcome everyone back for the 2024-2025 school year. Our front desk, administration and counseling staff returned to the office this past week. We are excited to welcome and support all students!

I want to acknowledge and thank THS alumni, Woody Smith, for creating our logo for our inclusion and belonging work. We want every student to feel welcome and supported at TMHS. We have been doing a lot of work to come up with a statement which is located here along with the Board of Education goals. This will drive our work this year. The goal is for this not to be a statement that lives in a document but it lives in our halls, classrooms, athletic fields, theaters and among our community.

That being said, we will focus on continuing to build a highly engaged collaborative community. The research shows that through strong teacher collaboration we will see large gains in our student achievement. We also know that when students and families feel as if they are part of a community it increases their happiness and engagement. We want students and staff to feel a part of our community.

Thank you for your continued support and we are excited for the 24 - 25 school year!

There is a lot of important information, please read through carefully and reach out with any questions.
SCHOOL STARTS TUESDAY August 20 @ 8:10 am!

New Staff & Schedule Information
The majority of our staff will be the same this year. I am excited to welcome some new faces:

Alexis Delisle: Alexis and her family are moving here from Florida and she is new to teaching. She has been leading trainings and adults as a lieutenant in the fire department. She will participating in the Alternative Teaching Program through our local BOCES program.
Delaney O'Shea: MSHS Math, Delaney will be teaching 7x at TMS and HS Math. She completed her student teaching last year in Pennsylvania .
Jill Betz: Jill is transitioning from a substitute to a full time para-professional. She is a long-time Telluride local and has been in our schools in a variety of capacities; mom, substitute, social service case worker.

Student Schedules: Student schedules will be available on Tuesday, August 6th at noon. We will not be mailing student schedules, rather they will only be available online at Power School. If you need assistance logging into Power School please contact helpdesk@telluride.k12.co.us Please understand that we do our best to fill everyone’s requests, though our schedule is not able to accommodate every situation.

School Counselors will assist students in making schedule changes before school starts. All requests should be made using the link below. Schedules may be changed if students are in the wrong course, an academic course they no longer wish to complete, or a non-preferred elective option. Schedule changes requests will not be filled if requests are for a specific teacher or to be with a group of friends.

PLEASE NOTE, schedules are continuing to change due to new student enrollments, sections, etc. Please continue to check your schedule.

  1. 24 - 25 Bell Schedule - other bell schedules are also listed on The Answers
  2. Miner Store
  3. HS School Supply list
  4. MS School Supply list
  5. THS Locker Request Form - MS students are given lockers, HS need to request
  6. PSAT Sign up: The district covers the cost for the fall PSAT/NMSQT we are still finalizing the date.

  • Parking Passes: Only seniors can park on campus, an application will be emailed to seniors separately.
  • Bus Schedule is located on the website, we have consolidated routes to be more efficient with our buses and drivers.
  • Orientation information: We are in the process of finalizing orientations for 7th, 9th and new students; tentatively they will be Monday, August 19th. Please watch for additional information.
  • Miner Community Meeting: Our TMHS Miner Community Meeting will meet the 1st Tuesday of every month, we will not hold meetings in December and April. This is a great way to get involved with our schools. The TMHS co-chairs are Kathleen Merritt and Annie Carlson. They can be reached at: kathleen@brightfuturesforchildren.org and anniecarlson72@gmail.com
  • Safety & Security: As a reminder, students can only enter and exit through the TMHS front doors. All other doors on the TMHS campus have alarms during the school day. The purpose is that individuals cannot prop doors open and we know everyone who is entering the building. There are consequences up to suspension for triggering alarms during the school day. All bathrooms have vape detectors. We want the bathrooms to be a safe place for all to use. Please also note we will ask visitors and parents to always sign in at the front desk and wear a visitor badge.
  • Parent Book Club: Look for information soon about a parent book club; We will be reading An Anxious Generation.

NEW THIS YEAR!
At TMHS we believe that student and staff relationships are essential to success in the classroom. Therefore we are rolling out Fall PE: similar to Winter PE. Fall PE will take place for the first 2 weeks in September and activities will be run at little to no cost by teachers. Please be patient as we work through the final details but we are very excited about this opportunity.

Athletics
HS Fall sports have started! Please reach out to Jamie Stewart jstewart@telluride.k12.co.us for more information.

Please note that due to increased costs our athletic fees have increased. TMS athletic fees per season are $100 and THS athletic fees per season are $250.

Student Handbook HIghlights
Here is a link to the updated student handbook: Student Handbook I want to draw attention to a couple important pieces of information:
Class Fees: Every Telluride Middle High School class has a financial account that travels with them until graduation, the money rolls over with the class from year to year. These fees are in place of asking families for money throughout the year such as 9th/12th adventure day, end of year celebrations, etc. In a student’s senior year the class money is used to supplement the graduation budget. All 7th, 8th & 9th grade students are required to rent a school issued chromebook.
7th Grade: $50 plus $50 chromebook rental
8th Grade: $50 plus $50 chromebook rental
9th Grade: $50 plus $50 chromebook rental
10th Grade: $50
11th Grade: $50
12th Grade: $60

Attendance: I want to emphasize the importance of being on time and in class every day. We want everyone to show respect and responsibility by being in class at 8:10. We have seen a direct correlation between attendance and performance in school. We will be in communication with parents often and early regarding attendance concerns.

Cell Phones: The research shows that screen time has a negative effect on student learning and mental health. Therefore our cell phone policies will be strictly enforced:

  • TMS Students: Phones and airpods must be locked in a cell phone locker prior to 8:10 and can be picked up at 3:20
  • THS: Students may NOT have phones or air pods in use from bell to bell. THS students can access their phones or air pods during break, lunch or passing periods. If it is seen during instructional time it is taken.
  • Consequences:
  • 1st Offense: Phone is taken by teacher and returned at end of period.
  • 2nd offense: Phone is brought to office for the day.
  • 3rd offense: Parent must come pick phone up.
  • 4th offense & beyond: Student must turn phone in to Ms. Kimble daily for a month.

Any questions please refer to the Student Handbook.
